Meet the Host
Welcome to Surfside Cottage — my name is Ines. I’ve been the host of the cottage since 2003.
In 2002, I had a vision of renting the cottage short-term. I loved the idea of being able to use this wonderful property for my family while also renting it for others to enjoy. After extensive research to prepare the cottage, we made considerable upgrades and renovations. A friend told me to contact a company in Sooke that managed short-term rental properties, and so it all began!
Before this idea in 2001, I graduated from Camosun College as an RN. I worked as a nurse and ran the short-term rental through a private agency in 2003 for a few years, and I started managing the property in 2007 using VRBO and eventually Airbnb. I also manage direct bookings for repeat guests.
It has been a pleasure to have hosted so many visitors from all over the world in these 20+ years, who have enjoyed the property as much as I do.

Reviews
This home is a comfortable, cozy mid-century modern gem, beautifully constructed from local cedar and fir.
Perched right on the edge of a cliff, it offers breathtaking views of the Strait with mountain peaks stretching across the horizon. The scenery alone is so captivating, you may find it hard to leave. That said, you get the best of both worlds here—if you’re craving a bit of civilization, an easy hour’s drive east brings you to Victoria and the Butchart Gardens. Prefer something more remote? Head an hour west to Port Renfrew for rugged coastline, dense forests, and true wilderness.

The views are spectacular, and we loved seeing so much wildlife.
We stayed with kids. The hot tub and indoor wood fire were both special additions. The bed is one of the most comfortable we have experienced.
It was exactly what we were hoping for, and we dream of one day returning!

The cottage is incredibly warm and cozy, with beautiful windows that let us enjoy the ocean view at all times.
The hot tub was a highlight—sitting and gazing out at the ocean, mountains, and birds was absolutely perfect.
Just a small note for future guests: there wasn’t any cooking oil or coffee provided, so be sure to bring your own. Stayed a few nights.
Overall, it’s a lovely, peaceful spot, with truly stunning views.
